Take Action for Autism DayThe Autism Society of Washington is organizing an event at the state Capitol on January 20, 2011 to educate the legislative community on issues related to autism. Learn what you can do at http://www.autismsocietyofwa.org/news/?art_id=2001 |
Combating Autism Re-authorization Act IntroducedSenator Chris Dodd (CT), along with Senator Robert Menendez (NJ) have introduced new legislation would reauthorize the landmark Combating Autism Act of 2006 (CAA), significantly increasing federal response to the national and public health emergency posed by autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Find out what how you can help with a computer, internet, and a small investment of time. End of Year Message from Kristy (ASW President)We are nearing the close of another year and reflecting on the tasks we’ve accomplished and the people we have served through the Autism Society of Washington (ASW). At ASW, we are presented with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. When we do so, the impact is like a pebble in the pond; it continues to ripple out and serve many more. As president of ASW, I am asking you to consider the ripples you are willing to make for the people we serve. I am asking you to consider a tax deductible donation to ASW to support us in our work. Thanks to the volunteers and members of ASW, we have been able to make life-long impact on those we serve. We understand their feelings of joy in connecting with other human beings, despite their inability to verbally express it. They benefit from the people who advocate for them, giving them a voice where few others would speak. And to see the tears of joy of the parents who have struggled and now look back upon their child’s progress, as Mastercard would say, is “priceless.” Please consider donating to ASW, dedicated to serving individuals and families who struggle daily for the slightest victory in what can appear to be an insurmountable task. Every dollar you contribute will go to support our efforts to our mission: “Improving the lives of all affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders in Washington” With your contribution, we can make a difference. You can make a difference. Thank You. Kristy Wessels |
