A Full Spectrum of the Arts: An evening of autistic expressionSaturday, October 29, 2011Holiday Inn at SeaTac

We are planning a dinner and creative arts program Saturday evening, October 29, in conjunction with the USAAA conference in Seattle. Dinner registration is $60 per person. This is a separate event from the conference taking place during the conference at the same location.  Seating is limited!

The following link can be used for people who are not attending the conference and just want to attend the dinner.

This is also the link for people to make reservations for the dinner if they forgot to while they were registering for the conference.http://www.gifttool.com/registrar/ShowEventDetails?ID=1201&EID=10088

Call for Artists, Poetry, and Musical Performers

Through this event, artists with autism spectrum disorder will have the opportunity to exhibit visual arts in a juried and judged show at the conference on Friday and Saturday. Artists will also be featured in the dinner program on Saturday with expressive arts including poetry and music.

We are offering participation scholarships to artists who need support in order to exhibit. These opportunities would come from this scholarship fund. Support for artists could include covering costs for airfare, mileage, lodging, dinner tickets, etc. in a combination to fit the need of the individual.

Call for Sponsors

This is the debut of what we hope will be an annual event, and we need your support to present a quality program. We are hosting this event to both showcase the incredible talent of artists with ASD and to raise funds to support ASW mission and programs.

There are several sponsorship opportunities for this event. Sponsoring is a great opportunity to show your support for the emerging and professional artist with an autism spectrum disorder. With all of our sponsorships, early commitment of support offers the greatest exposure through all promotional efforts. Please consider supporting this celebration of talent and creativity with a sponsorship or donation.

Please contact the ASW office for details on the conference and dinner event (360) 515-8910

Sensory Friendly Event at the Clark County Fair

The Clark County Fair and Butler Amusements along with the Arc of Clark County and the Autism Society of Washington are teaming up to make special plans to help families with developmentally disabled children enjoy the summer’s best party – the fair!

During the noon hour on Tuesday, August 9 only, half a dozen rides will operate in a sensory friendly mode.  Speed, noise, and lights will be reduced. The Clark County fair will open as usual at 10:00 but rides will begin operating as usual until noon .

ASW Vancouver Affiliate’s request for these special accommodations was last minute – but it’s going to happen!  They are also preparing a survey to gauge the level of interest from developmentally disabled families to support a request for more special features at the fair next year.  Your participate will be appreciated and can help for future special accomodations and events.
