Vancouver WA Summer Camp in Jeopardy
On behalf of all the special need kids that attend Sensory Summer Camp in Vancouver Washington, we urgently need your HELP!
The sensory camp is a unique summer program that was created in 2009. The program is focused on providing a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children with special needs. Sensory camp is a place where these children are able to be themselves and to have what other kids have: to be a part of their community. For children with sensory challenges under age 13, there is no other local Parks & Recreation option for summer day camp.
Due to the budget shortfall, the City of Vancouver plans to cancel the program. The parents are doing all they can to save the program, as it’s the only one in the area for our special kids. They have met with Vancouver city officials to work on a solution to be able to keep the camp alive, and have an agreement that Sensory Camp will take place if they are able to raise $25,000 by May 30. Your donation to the Parks Foundation of Clark County will enable Vancouver Parks and Recreation to support the Sensory Summer Camp with staff, location and supplies. Please consider some kind of donation, even if only a small amount and you will have the gratitude of many families and campers who have been looking forward to attending this very special camp.
The Parks Foundation of Clark County is a 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID#91-1986747). You can make your tax-deductible donations using the attached form or go online at http://www.parksfoundation.us/
