ASW Discord Code of Conduct

Autism Society of Washington Discord Community Code of Conduct

Welcome to the Autism Society of Washington’s Discord community! We are so glad you are here. This is a space where we aim to create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. To help make that possible, we ask that you read and agree to our Code of Conduct. This is a living document, which means it may be updated over time. By joining our community, you agree to follow this Code and to stay informed about any updates. If at any point you feel the guidelines no longer align with your values, you are always welcome to step away.

Our goal as members and leaders is to ensure that everyone feels safe, accepted, and respected. We value people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences, including age, body size, disability (both visible and invisible), ethnicity, gender identity and expression, experience and education, income or social class, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, and sexual identity and orientation. We are committed to creating a community where every person feels supported and valued.

In order to maintain a positive and affirming space, we encourage behaviors such as showing kindness and empathy to others, respecting different opinions and perspectives, offering and receiving helpful feedback constructively, taking responsibility for mistakes, thinking about the needs of the community as a whole, and honoring other people’s boundaries and consent.

Behavior that is not acceptable includes using sexual language or imagery, making sexual advances, trolling, insulting, or making hurtful comments, harassing others, sharing private information without permission, acting in ways that would be inappropriate in a professional setting, and arguing about the rules to justify harmful behavior.

It is important to respect personal boundaries. Do not contact anyone through direct messages without first asking for their permission. If someone declines a message or interaction, it is essential to honor their decision. Boundaries help everyone feel safe and respected.

Community leaders, including moderators and admins, are responsible for ensuring these guidelines are followed. If rules are broken, leaders may remove messages or users and will provide explanations whenever possible. Actions will be fair, thoughtful, and aimed at maintaining a supportive environment.

If you notice behavior that makes you uncomfortable or violates this Code, please reach out to a community leader. You can direct message any leader with the [@MOD ROLE] role, tag them in chat, or email President Ali at alisonburris13@gmail.com or Secretary Maria at mariaaswboard@gmail.com. All reports will be taken seriously, handled fairly, and treated with respect for your privacy.

Thank you for being part of the Autism Society of Washington’s Discord community. By joining and participating, you help create a space where everyone can feel welcome, safe, and supported.
